Responsibilities

  • Own finance workflows end to end, from problem definition and design through production launch, evaluation, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Design and build agentic and LLM-based systems using extraction, retrieval, reasoning, tool use, structured outputs, validation, fallbacks, and confidence scoring.
  • Build retrieval and RAG components using chunking, embeddings, vector search, and re-ranking where workflows require grounding in customer documents or policies.
  • Integrate AI services with backend systems using clear API contracts, retries, graceful degradation, and per-customer data isolation.
  • Create evaluation sets, automated evaluations, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerts, and audit trails for AI decisions.
  • Set shared AI engineering patterns and tooling, review system designs, and help other engineers use coding agents and AI tools effectively.
  • Work directly with customers, finance users, Product, and Backend Engineering to define workflow needs and success criteria.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and operating LLM or AI-powered systems in production.
  • Experience owning a large system or workflow end to end with limited direction, from scoping and design through launch and iteration.
  • Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered applications with APIs such as Anthropic or OpenAI, including structured outputs, error handling, and evaluation.
  • Experience designing agentic or multi-step AI workflows or RAG systems with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
  • Strong Python proficiency and solid backend fundamentals, including relational databases, asynchronous patterns, and a major cloud provider.
  • Regular use of AI coding agents and tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, with an understanding of their strengths and limitations.
  • Experience with observability for AI systems, including logging, tracing, dashboards, and quality monitoring.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Preferred: fintech, financial services, regulated-industry, finance or back-office automation, technical leadership, startup or scale-up, open-source, technical writing, public speaking, or Spanish/Portuguese experience.
