Responsibilities

  • Own finance workflows such as invoice-to-payment, expense review, and transaction reconciliation from scoping through production and iteration.
  • Design and build agentic, LLM-based, retrieval, and RAG systems with extraction, reasoning, tool use, human review, structured outputs, validation, fallbacks, and confidence scoring.
  • Integrate AI services with backend systems using reliable API contracts, retries, graceful degradation, and per-customer data isolation.
  • Build evaluation sets, automated evaluations, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerts, quality monitoring, and audit trails for AI workflows.
  • Choose models and manage AI workflow cost and latency while establishing shared patterns, tooling, and engineering practices.
  • Collaborate directly with customers, finance users, Product, and Backend Engineering, and provide technical guidance through design reviews and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and operating LLM or AI-powered systems in production.
  • Experience owning large systems or workflows end to end with limited direction.
  • Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered applications through APIs such as Anthropic or OpenAI, including structured outputs, error handling, and evaluation.
  • Experience designing agentic or multi-step AI workflows, or RAG systems using vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.
  • Strong Python proficiency and solid backend fundamentals including relational databases, asynchronous patterns, and a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Regular use of AI coding agents and tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, with an understanding of their strengths and limitations.
  • Experience with observability for AI systems, including logging, tracing, dashboards, and quality monitoring.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Preferred: fintech, financial services, regulated-industry, finance-workflow automation, startup or scale-up experience, technical leadership, Spanish or Portuguese fluency, or open-source, technical writing, or speaking experience.
