AI Phone - Head of Android in Others new

Responsibilities

  • Own Android platform architecture and AOSP-based ROM development.
  • Define OS-level integration of AI capabilities, including system services and privileged APIs for AI agents.
  • Design system-level permissions and security architecture.
  • Evaluate Android platform limitations and determine required modifications or extensions.
  • Work with hardware vendors and ODMs on device integration.
  • Lead Android platform engineering and establish technical standards.
  • Evaluate technical feasibility and trade-offs for the first phone.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
  • Deep understanding of the Android Framework, system services, and Android internals.
  • Experience with Binder IPC, Android permissions, SELinux, and system processes.
  • Strong Java, Kotlin, and C++ knowledge.
  • Experience building or modifying Android ROMs.
  • Experience shipping Android platform-level features rather than only Android applications.
  • Strong system architecture and technical leadership experience.

  • Experience from Google Android, Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, or similar Android platform teams is preferred.
  • Experience with custom ROM development is preferred.
  • Experience with Android BSP, HAL, and device bring-up is preferred.
  • Experience with background execution and power optimization is preferred.
  • Experience integrating AI or ML capabilities at the OS level is preferred.
