The Banking & Insurance Group (BIG) is one of the most successful divisions within CARFAX, serving the insurance, automotive finance, and credit union industries. We are in high-growth mode as the use of vehicle history in these markets is increasing exponentially.
Responsibilities and Impact:
Contribute to the development of cloud API-based products and microservices, learning and applying IaC concepts along the way.
Assist in integrating backend, cloud-based internal services to support optimal customer experiences for our products.
Apply test-driven development and continuous integration practices as part of an agile work environment, with guidance from senior team members.
Continuously learn from peers and actively seek feedback to grow your technical skills and contribute to the team's success.
Help build web applications that improve the lives of drivers and car owners in the US, with a focus on accessible user interfaces.
Work with modern technologies and gradually develop the ability to evaluate and suggest tools that meet team requirements.
What We're Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
At least 1 year of professional experience with Java or another JVM language such as Kotlin or Groovy.
Foundational knowledge of or exposure to the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Data).
Basic understanding of microservice architecture concepts.
Familiarity with RESTful API design principles and best practices.
Awareness of asynchronous communication patterns such as event-driven architectures or messaging.
Basic understanding of distributed systems concepts such as fault tolerance and scalability.
Experience building applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and familiarity with IaC concepts.
Foundational understanding of good engineering practices, including clean code and basic testing techniques.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Practical experience in DevOps activities, including CI/CD, GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB is a bonus.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Proficiency in English for effective communication across international teams, backed up by experience working in agile teams.
Openness to participating in code reviews as both a contributor and a learner, developing an understanding of coding standards and best practices.
