Responsibilities

Own backend features and services end to end, from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production operation.
Build and maintain integrations with banks, card networks, and other third-party financial services.
Write and review technical designs and participate in architecture discussions.
Improve microservice performance and reliability by addressing bottlenecks and failure modes.
Improve testing and observability across backend systems.
Collaborate with product and compliance teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into software.
Travel up to approximately 15% annually.

Requirements

At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems.
Demonstrated ability to independently deliver features from ambiguous requirements through production.
Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and computer science fundamentals.
Working experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or microservices.
Proficiency with Python 3, web frameworks, and APIs, particularly Flask.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud platforms.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred experience with payment processing, fraud detection, compliance systems, AML, KYC, PCI DSS, financial APIs, ACH, card networks, third-party integrations, or high-volume transaction systems.
