Responsibilities

  • Own, maintain, and improve the Writer Design System for both human developers and AI coding agents.
  • Design and build production-quality UI components and features from concept through delivery.
  • Deliver design-led polish, micro-interactions, animation, and brand moments across product surfaces.
  • Architect new design-system primitives and keep Figma, documentation, examples, and Storybook libraries aligned.
  • Ensure accessibility, motion quality, consistency, and frontend craft across design-system components.
  • Research and improve design-to-code tools and workflows across the EPD organization.
  • Partner with designers, product managers, and engineering leads to measure adoption, close gaps, and uphold design-system standards.

Requirements

  • 4–8+ years of experience building production frontends with TypeScript and React.
  • Experience owning a system, platform, or product surface end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles including easing, choreography, anticipation, follow-through, interruptibility, and perceived performance.
  • Expert-level Figma skills, including auto-layout, variants, variables, and Code Connect.
  • Proficiency with Framer Motion, GSAP, and Lottie for web-based animation.
  • Portfolio, side projects, GitHub, or production work demonstrating systems-level design-engineering work.
  • Experience driving adoption of a design system or shared platform across an engineering organization.
  • Experience with AI product surfaces including tool-call UIs, streaming responses, agent state, and dynamic UI rendering.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous cross-functional problems and demonstrate alignment with WRITER’s Connect, Challenge, and Own values.
