Develop low-level software for processor peripherals and communication interfaces on spacecraft avionics.
Write and debug device drivers for sensors, actuators, and other spacecraft-bus components.
Implement onboard algorithms, including closed-loop control and fault detection and response.
Develop both iterative bench-test software and rigorously reviewed and tested manufacturing and flight software.
Provide embedded-software input for new system and hardware designs.
Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations.
Requirements
U.S. Person status or the ability to obtain required export authorizations is required to access export-controlled data.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
3+ years of experience writing C/C++ for embedded systems, ideally involving spacecraft, robotics, automotive, or other physical-world hardware.
Experience developing microcontroller firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments.
Experience writing and debugging low-level device drivers over SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and CAN.
Experience with hardware/software integration, including reading schematics and using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for hardware bring-up.
Understanding of microcontroller and microprocessor architecture, including memory, buses, and DMA.
Preferred: 1+ year of flight-software experience.
Preferred: FPGA development experience and experience bringing up avionics or flight hardware from first power-on.
Preferred: experience with satellite attitude control systems, reaction wheels, magnetorquers, small thrusters, motors, power electronics, encoders, and current monitors.
Preferred: familiarity with satellite systems and protocols such as CCSDS and ECSS.
