Founding Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design and build system architecture integrating AI agents with CAD, CAE, and PLM tools while meeting defense and medical customer security requirements.
  • Own architecture decisions, production delivery, observability, evaluation suites, regression testing, and on-call operations.
  • Ship production AI workflows into live customer programs.
  • Build evaluation and training loops using simulation runs, test data, engineer corrections, field outcomes, and reinforcement learning grounded in real physics.
  • Work with partner-company engineers to identify failures and turn those learnings into platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to the product roadmap and execute quickly within live engineering programs.
  • Expand the platform across multiple operating companies and mentor a small team.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience shipping software to production, including systems used daily by real customers.
  • Proven experience putting AI into production, including LLM agent workflows that call real tools, handle failures, and use rigorous evaluation suites.
  • Strong Python skills and production experience in backend or ML systems engineering.
  • Experience at a high-growth or early-stage company.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals from a rigorous academic or industry background.
  • Ability to design honest evaluations and determine when to use retrieval, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, or conventional software.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with experienced domain engineers.
  • Willingness to travel to partner sites and work fully in person.
  • Experience with reinforcement learning, fine-tuning, or deployed AI systems iterated on real-world failure modes is preferred.
  • Background in frontier AI, applied AI, industrial software, simulation, CAD/CAE/EDA, or physical-world AI is a strong plus.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship is required.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $150,000 to $220,000 USD annually.
  • Equity is included as part of the founding-team package.
  • Full-time, on-site work in New York City, NY.
  • Regular travel to partner engineering companies is expected.
