  • Partner with security and GRC to turn contractual and regulatory commitments into technical controls.
  • Design and operate region-aware routing, storage, replication, failover, and data residency enforcement.
  • Design public APIs and own their versioning, deprecation, backwards compatibility, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and idempotency behavior.
  • Build internal tooling, admin surfaces, and operational dashboards.
  • Operate and debug systems across services, data, and infrastructure while improving reliability, observability, testing, and deployment.
  • Review code and raise the technical bar across the engineering team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
  • Deep PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query optimization, and live migrations with real data.
  • Strong backend skills in Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or a similar language, plus frontend ability with React or a comparable framework.
  • Experience designing and maintaining customer-facing APIs with versioning and compatibility discipline.
  • Hands-on cloud experience, preferably AWS, including storage, IAM, and encryption primitives.
  • Experience handling sensitive or regulated data with hard access-control, retention, and deletion requirements.
  • Sound judgment about idempotency, safe retries, failure handling, and load-related failure modes.
  • Clear communication and good judgment in a remote, cross-functional team.
  • Bonus experience with multi-region or data-residency-constrained systems, data-layer multi-tenant isolation, BIPA or GDPR implementation, audited environments such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001, identity or security products, and production incidents, observability, or reliability.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
