Responsibilities

Build and maintain provider adapters that translate third-party inference APIs, response formats, streaming protocols, and authentication schemes into a unified internal interface.
Normalize provider capabilities and error taxonomies, including context limits, function calling, streaming behavior, rate limits, and timeout codes.
Implement cost guardrails, spend controls, retry protections, circuit breakers, throttling, and failover mechanisms.
Monitor provider changelogs, deprecations, and response shapes while building automated contract tests to detect breaking changes.
Reconcile provider invoices with internal usage and metering records and resolve discrepancies with finance.
Evaluate and onboard prospective inference providers through proof-of-concept integrations and reliability testing.

Requirements

4+ years of backend engineering experience building and operating production API integrations.
Experience integrating multiple third-party providers behind a single internal interface.
Hands-on experience with Go or a comparable statically typed backend language, including HTTP or gRPC clients, retry and backoff logic, and circuit breakers.
Working knowledge of LLM and inference provider APIs, including streaming responses, function calling, and token-based rate limiting.
Experience with cost and usage monitoring or alerting for metered, usage-billed systems, preferably including vendor invoice reconciliation.
Ability to read third-party API documentation and changelogs, write contract or integration tests, and debug upstream failures.
Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or distributed tracing.
