Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, modernization, and deployment of Java-based microservices applications.
  • Define scalable, resilient, secure, and maintainable microservices architectures.
  • Provide technical leadership to backend developers and SDET engineers.
  • Design and review RESTful APIs, service integrations, asynchronous processing, and application configuration strategies.
  • Drive regional application customizations and coordinate cross-team dependencies for deployments.
  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines, containerization, Kubernetes deployments, observability, and release management.
  • Conduct code reviews, technical design reviews, performance optimization, and production troubleshooting.
  • Ensure secure coding, automated testing, engineering standards, and production readiness.

Requirements

  • Require 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on Java backend development.
  • Require advanced proficiency in Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and microservices architecture.
  • Require hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, containerization, and application migration or deployment on Kubernetes.
  • Require experience designing REST APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Require strong understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
  • Require experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, Kafka or other messaging systems, and API security.
  • Require proficiency with Kubernetes deployment concepts including Helm, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Services, Ingress, and scaling.
  • Require understanding of application monitoring, logging, performance tuning, and production incident management.
  • Require proven technical leadership, solution design, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Preferred qualifications include Mastercard or parent-organization experience, payments or financial services experience, exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience with GitOps, Argo CD, Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing.
