Lead Applied AI Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deploy end-to-end AI workflows and agents across multiple business domains.
  • Develop agent architectures, evaluation pipelines, monitoring systems, and performance frameworks.
  • Lead technical projects end to end and set standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and project scoping.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
  • Work with customers and internal stakeholders to translate requirements into technical plans.
  • Identify and improve gaps in internal tooling, frameworks, and processes.
  • Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, GTM, Recruiting, Product, and other teams to identify agent-driven automation opportunities.
  • Contribute components, documentation, and shared tools to the LangChain and LangGraph open-source ecosystems.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
  • Direct experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications or agents in production.
  • Experience leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, and raising team technical quality.
  • Hands-on experience implementing evaluation and monitoring systems for agents or workflows.
  • Deep understanding of prompting, retrieval, orchestration, inference APIs, and model selection across modalities.
  • Strong coding skills in Python or TypeScript, ideally both.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex technical ideas.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, ambiguous startup environment.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to New York, NY.
  • Expertise with LangChain or LangGraph is preferred.
  • Experience building or maintaining open-source projects is preferred.

Salary: $160k - $200k/yr
