Lead Engineer - Front End (React) in Others

Responsibilities

  • Design and build modern React, Next.js, and TypeScript customer-facing web experiences.
  • Set the architecture for a multi-site platform with API-driven content layers, a headless CMS, composable architecture, and AWS backend infrastructure.
  • Lead one engineering pod and guide the target architecture for Xero’s customer experiences.
  • Plan and execute careful migrations of live, high-traffic sites without disruption.
  • Make performance and accessibility default, including attention to Core Web Vitals and WCAG.
  • Coach engineers and help teams develop skills in React and AI.
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, and Support to deliver customer experience improvements and explore agentic AI proofs of concept.

Requirements

  • Deep experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js at architecture level.
  • Experience designing high-performance, content-rich multi-site platforms.
  • Experience migrating live, high-traffic websites with a careful, low-risk approach.
  • Working knowledge of Core Web Vitals and WCAG, with strong performance and accessibility practices.
  • Experience coaching engineers and leading through influence.
  • Experience in e-commerce, media, agency, or other high-traffic web environments is valued.
