Responsibilities

Architect and implement production-grade Java microservices using clean architecture and engineering best practices.
Build, operate, and optimize streaming and batch data pipelines on GCP Dataflow and Apache Beam.
Own services deployed across GCP, including Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, and GKE.
Design and optimize relational schemas, access patterns, indexing, queries, performance, backups, replication, and stored procedures.
Design systems for scalability, performance, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency.
Partner with product, data engineering, and platform teams; review code, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions.
Lead testing strategy, static analysis, continuous improvement, and technical-debt reduction.
Apply responsible judgment when using AI tools to improve productivity and solve business problems.

Requirements

15+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep Java expertise and technical leadership on large systems.
15+ years of prior experience in a global banking, insurance, or financial organization.
Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures at scale.
Hands-on experience with GCP services, including Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Compute/GKE, IAM, and VPC.
Experience building streaming and batch data pipelines and handling large-volume data.
Practical PostgreSQL and Oracle experience, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, backup and replication strategies, and stored procedures.
Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes/GKE, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
Strong testing discipline, TDD/BDD experience, and automated test frameworks.
Excellent verbal and written communication, mentoring ability, analytical thinking, and cross-functional influence.
Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a relevant field.
Preferred experience with Apache Beam, Apache Spark, event-driven streaming concepts, Oracle/PostgreSQL migration, pg_dump, pg_restore, ora2pg, logical or heterogeneous replication, Bigtable, Spanner, Redis, cloud security, data governance, GDPR/PII, JVM tuning, garbage collection, and profiling tools.
