Lead Machine Learning Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design, train, and evaluate state-of-the-art models for autonomous driving, simulation, and the ML platform stack.
  • Apply emerging techniques in end-to-end driving, Vision Language Action, world models, and foundation models to commercial-scale problems.
  • Lead small cross-functional teams of engineers beyond the state of the art.
  • Define data balancing, training experiment, and evaluation practices for efficient petabyte-scale model training.
  • Analyze and address long-tail failure cases in large models.
  • Process and characterize large multimodal datasets exceeding 100 TB.

Requirements

  • At least four years of industry experience working on commercial robotics systems.
  • At least one year of mentoring machine learning engineers in a commercial or laboratory environment.
  • Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a field with a strong mathematical or engineering foundation, or comparable knowledge or experience.
  • Extensive practical experience in Vision Language Action Models, Generative World Models, Foundation Models in Robotics, or Data Centric AI.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch in a Linux environment.
  • Functional understanding of LiDAR, camera, and radar processing techniques.
  • Practical experience handling long-tail problems in machine learning.
  • Experience leading teams of 2–3 engineers and communicating technical details to interdisciplinary leadership.
  • Preferred qualifications include a PhD or published research, familiarity with post-training techniques, experience deploying models to resource-constrained edge hardware, and understanding of C/C++/CUDA memory and threading models.

Salary: $220k - $270k/yr
