Lead Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, launch, and architect production features for the real-time events pipeline.
  • Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve cost, latency, or operational performance.
  • Own key pipeline projects, participate in architecture discussions, and define stable contracts with downstream consumers.
  • Mentor teammates through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and production-ready engineering practices.
  • Partner with Product, Data, and Zeta Marketing Platform consumer teams to implement latency, throughput, and correctness SLAs.
  • Instrument services, improve alerting, address on-call gaps, and drive post-incident fixes, runbooks, and dashboards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8–10 years of software engineering experience, including Lead or Staff-level work on event, streaming, or data-infrastructure systems.
  • Production experience with event streaming such as Kafka, Python services and APIs such as FastAPI, and pipeline processing such as Spark or EMR.
  • Proficiency designing, deploying, and operating systems on AWS, including S3, SQS/SNS, Lambda, and RDS.
  • Fluency in Python or substantial experience with Scala and Java.
  • Experience with databases and data stores such as Postgres, MySQL, Redis, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with orchestrators such as Apache Airflow.
  • Experience owning high-throughput production pipelines, including incidents, performance, cost, observability, data quality, and SLOs.
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle, from design through production monitoring and on-call.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for explaining pipeline designs and trade-offs to partners.

Salary: $200k - $210k/yr
