Responsibilities

Research high-stakes AI policy and regulatory issues using AI agents.
Build automated platforms to harvest, prioritize, and patent company inventions in collaboration with AI researchers and intellectual property attorneys.
Work with the Legal team and outside counsel on high-tech litigation in U.S. federal court.
Engineer scalable privacy and compliance systems for frontier AI products.
Contribute to regulatory filings and responses involving AI technology, company systems, and policy.
Implement internal software solutions for recruiting, labor compliance, and performance management.
Represent the company as a technical and policy subject-matter expert in meetings with government officials, international partners, and civil society.
Partner with senior leaders across a changing portfolio of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Strong technical skills at or above Perplexity’s software-engineering hiring bar.
Fluency with frontier intelligence tools such as Perplexity Computer.
Evidence of exceptional ability and an exceptionally strong work ethic.
Strong communication and writing skills, preferably demonstrated through prior written work product.
Ability to rapidly develop deep expertise in unfamiliar fields.
Strong judgment, integrity, discretion, and a service-oriented approach.
Curiosity and willingness to redefine the role every 3–6 months.
Candidates may be early-career engineers, experienced engineers, or lawyers and economists who have maintained strong engineering skills.
Candidates planning to attend law school or a PhD program must commit to at least two years.
