Responsibilities

  • Engage customers and internal teams to define performance expectations, scale targets, operational constraints, and system behavior requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into performance models, load plans, and repeatable automated validation.
  • Lead platform-wide performance testing with k6, including realistic simulations of POS behavior, store concurrency, and cloud interactions.
  • Design virtualized environments and simulators for store workloads, transaction flows, and external dependencies.
  • Own infrastructure sizing and capacity models covering clusters, databases, messaging throughput, and resource allocation.
  • Define resilience behavior and patterns for failures, degraded dependencies, and partial outages.
  • Establish end-to-end observability and telemetry requirements across edge, store, and cloud environments.
  • Use AI-driven systems to generate and evaluate performance and resilience scenarios, identify regressions and anomalies, and automate validation workflows.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems.
  • Proven experience in performance engineering and scalability architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with k6 or similar performance testing tools and with load, stress, and scalability testing.
  • Strong background in capacity planning and infrastructure sizing.
  • Experience working directly with customers on performance and system behavior.
  • Deep understanding of distributed-systems patterns including concurrency control, latency management, retries and backoff, circuit breakers, graceful degradation, and workload isolation.
  • Experience with cloud-native systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure and with Kubernetes.
  • Strong debugging and performance analysis skills.
  • Preferred experience with multi-tier edge, on-premises/store, and cloud architectures; simulation or virtualization environments; event-driven systems; observability frameworks; or AI-driven testing and validation systems.
