Responsibilities

  • Build planning and allocation systems for cross-region and cross-provider placement, guardrails, queueing, and occupancy KPIs.
  • Drive compute efficiency programs covering stranding, rightsizing, unused capacity recovery, benchmarking, and workload utilization across training, inference, and evaluation systems.
  • Own compute cost attribution and forecasting by reconciling provider billing, telemetry, internal systems, demand signals, and research roadmaps.
  • Build and operate data pipelines ingesting occupancy, utilization, and cost data into BigQuery with ownership of completeness, latency SLOs, and gap detection.
  • Operate Kubernetes-native collection, labeling, reservation, taint, and scheduling systems at scale.
  • Gather requirements, define schema contracts, design self-service data products, and support load-bearing systems with on-call and SLO ownership.

Requirements

  • Experience with Prometheus, PromQL, and Grafana, including recording rules and monitoring relied upon by engineering teams.
  • Ability to gather requirements, work across organizational boundaries, and operate effectively in ambiguous environments with limited direction.
  • Preferred experience with capacity planning, resource management, cost attribution, scheduling and packing efficiency, or large-scale machine learning infrastructure.
  • Preferred multi-cloud data ingestion experience involving billing exports, reservation APIs, capacity reservations, commitments, and vendor telemetry.
  • Preferred experience with total cost of ownership, forecasting, accelerator infrastructure, internal data products, or exabyte-scale storage efficiency.
