Responsibilities

  • Own the technical vision, architecture, and long-term strategy for the Sign-In Widget platform.
  • Lead the design and implementation of core platform features and foundational framework components.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and principal engineers to shape the roadmap and technical strategy.
  • Resolve complex performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and architectural limitations.
  • Identify and advocate for technologies and approaches that advance Okta’s identity platform.
  • Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and responsiveness across devices and browsers.
  • Write clean, modular, well-tested, and maintainable code.
  • Mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
  • Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software development experience, including at least 8 years designing and building complex, enterprise-grade web applications.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and a record of architecting and delivering large-scale, high-impact software projects.
  • Expert-level knowledge of React and TypeScript, including state management, component architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend tooling such as Webpack or Vite.
  • Familiarity with server-side languages such as Java or C#.
  • Familiarity with Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, and comprehensive software testing practices.
  • Understanding of web security principles, secure coding practices, and WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Knowledge of IAM protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, and SAML is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
