Principal Software Engineer, CDN (Starlink) in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and scale a new Content Delivery Network for Starlink.
  • Build robust, responsive, and scalable distributed systems.
  • Develop tools, visibility, and alerting to diagnose, operate, and maintain complex business-critical systems in real time.
  • Design algorithms to optimize hardware utilization and cost efficiency against business-critical performance metrics.
  • Implement systems that shape traffic across multiple CDNs.
  • Lead and participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
  • Develop prototypes and manage experiments for future Starlink designs and use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or another STEM discipline and 10+ years of professional software development experience, or 12+ years of software development experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional software development experience in C, C++, or Rust.
  • At least 5 years of professional distributed systems experience or experience designing, building, and scaling a CDN system.
  • At least 7 years of professional networking experience.
  • Preferred: an advanced degree in computer science or engineering.
  • Preferred: experience with complex networking systems across layers 0–7, edge networking, DNS, traffic management, caching, load balancing, SSL/TLS, DDoS protection, and monitoring.
  • Preferred: knowledge of network topology, numerical optimization, graph theory, or convex optimization.
  • Preferred: experience deploying scalable software used in real-world applications or projects.
  • Preferred: strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and engineering skills, with the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Applicants must satisfy applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $255,000–$340,000 per year.
