Responsibilities

  • Design and ship secure libraries, defaults, workflows, and developer paved paths.
  • Define and implement security invariants and guardrails that continuously verify security properties across products and cloud infrastructure.
  • Build security capabilities directly into Traversal’s products for enterprise security teams.
  • Discover, verify, assess, and remediate security findings while adding tests or controls to prevent recurrence.
  • Architect security systems and major components that scale across SaaS and BYOC deployments.
  • Lead multi-phase rollouts, migrations, deprecations, enablement, and adoption across teams.
  • Own the operational completeness of security systems, including monitoring, alert quality, runbooks, rollout paths, and issue resolution.
  • Set technical direction for scoped security domains and connect technical work to customer and business outcomes.
  • Mentor engineers and emerging technical leaders and create reusable security patterns, libraries, and reference implementations.

Requirements

  • Require 4–6+ years building or securing production software or infrastructure, including sensitive, mission-critical systems.
  • Independently lead ambiguous, cross-team security projects from design through implementation, migration, and adoption.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Rust, or Go and ability to work effectively in an existing codebase.
  • Hands-on depth in application security or cloud security, with working knowledge of the other.
  • Technical depth in risk assessment and ability to evaluate standards such as NIST and SOC2 critically.
  • Practical understanding of authentication, authorization, trust boundaries, secrets, and common distributed-system failure modes.
  • Clear written communication and a collaborative approach to technical disagreements.
  • Preferred experience includes enterprise customer security requirements, securing infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform, Kubernetes, detection engineering, security telemetry, automated control validation, offensive testing with shipped remediations, and formal methods for security.

  • U.S. base salary range of $240,000–$300,000, plus startup equity and benefits.
