Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the vulnerability management program, including triage, prioritization, remediation tracking, and risk reporting.
  • Integrate security gates and automation into software development and deployment workflows in collaboration with DevOps.
  • Manage third-party penetration tests, including scoping, vendor coordination, and remediation tracking.
  • Lead threat modeling, architecture reviews, and security design reviews for new features and services.
  • Define and execute the application security strategy, roadmap, secure coding standards, and security requirements.
  • Mentor engineers and build a scalable security champions program.
  • Evaluate and manage application security tooling and vendors.
  • Track application security metrics and communicate risks and tradeoffs to engineering and executive leadership.
  • Participate in incident response, on-call rotations, and post-incident reviews.
  • Use AI for threat hunting, vulnerability scanning, and triage, and design AI agents for infrastructure and code analysis.
  • Follow company security and data-handling policies, complete required security training, and report suspected incidents.

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of experience in application security, product security, or security-focused software engineering.
  • Strong coding ability in one or more of Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or Kotlin, including the ability to read unfamiliar code and build security tooling.
  • Hands-on experience building or scaling vulnerability management programs and remediation workflows.
  • Experience integrating and tuning SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets scanning, and IaC scanning tools.
  • Familiarity with software supply-chain security and dependency-vetting tools such as Semgrep, Snyk, or Socket.
  • Deep knowledge of the OWASP Top 10, secure coding patterns, and common vulnerability classes.
  • Extensive experience leading threat modeling and security design reviews.
  • Track record of leading application security initiatives from strategy and roadmap through rollout and measurable results.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading or growing a security champions program.
  • Deep expertise in an area such as authentication and authorization, cryptography, API security, or cloud-native application security.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, investigation, and cross-functional remediation skills.
  • Hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted security tooling and an understanding of its strengths and limitations.
  • Cloud security exposure, especially GCP, blockchain/Web3 security experience, and familiarity with SOC 2, PCI DSS, or GLBA are preferred but not required.
