Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Go microservices.
Drive technical architecture and anticipate scaling, maintenance, and long-term system health needs.
Collaborate with product, design, frontend, and other cross-functional teams to deliver features.
Participate in system design reviews and contribute to engineering strategy.
Own code quality, reliability, observability, and production systems, including participation in an on-call rotation.
Plan and execute projects from inception through delivery.
Mentor peers and junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.

Requirements

5+ years of backend engineering experience using modern programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, Ruby, or C#; Go is preferred or candidates should be willing to learn it.
Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services.
Strong understanding of distributed systems and inter-service communication, including protobufs/gRPC, REST, or NSQ.
Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and take responsibility for production systems.
Preferred experience deploying and maintaining services in cloud environments, especially Google Cloud Platform.
Preferred familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, observability tooling, service reliability, protobufs/gRPC, Temporal, and decomposing monoliths into microservices.
Ability to address technical debt and scalability and communicate complex systems to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
