Senior Data Platform Engineer in Others

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate scalable streaming and messaging infrastructure using Kafka, Kafka Connect, Flink, and SQS.
  • Improve platform efficiency, reliability, resilience, observability, and operational maturity.
  • Develop Terraform modules and tooling for self-service provisioning of governed operational databases.
  • Build AI- and agent-based tooling that enables engineering teams to operate their own data infrastructure.
  • Implement data quality checks for operational data, including checks on Kafka.
  • Collaborate with the Analytical Data team to provide reliable data handoffs to the analytics platform.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and automate operational toil.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as a data, software, or platform engineer building and operating production data infrastructure at scale.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in a backend language such as Go, Java, Scala, or Python.
  • Deep production experience with event streaming and messaging systems, particularly Kafka.
  • Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases and their trade-offs, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience building infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Comfort with on-call responsibilities, automation, reliability ownership, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience with Flink, stream processing, Kafka Connect, self-service developer platforms, or data lake architectures is preferred.
