Responsibilities

  • Build and ship signup, login, social authentication, account recovery, and multi-factor authentication experiences.
  • Own authentication services and APIs, including session and token lifecycles, revocation, rate limiting, and APIs used by other squads.
  • Extend identity and access capabilities for business accounts and Workspaces, including the path toward SSO.
  • Build instrumentation, alerting, and dashboards to identify authentication failures early.
  • Partner with Product, Security, and platform teams to balance security, user experience, and login conversion.
  • Use AI-assisted development for migrations, testing, and investigation.
  • Raise engineering quality through code review, pairing, documentation, and mentoring.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally including authentication, identity, platform, or payments-adjacent work.
  • Full-stack proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL or MySQL, and AWS.
  • Working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWTs, session management, MFA, and common attack classes.
  • Experience safely shipping changes on high-traffic critical paths using feature flags, staged rollouts, migrations, and backward compatibility.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, Codex, and similar tools, including prompting, validation, and refinement.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with Product, Design, Security, and teams across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to work from the Melbourne or Sydney office on a hybrid basis.
