Responsibilities

Conduct research and development applying AI and machine learning techniques to database management systems.
Develop algorithms for query planning, indexing, storage management, workload prediction, and scheduling.
Collaborate with data infrastructure and engineering teams to integrate AI models into production systems.
Analyze large-scale database workload datasets to identify optimization opportunities.
Publish findings in conferences and journals such as VLDB, SIGMOD, ICDE, and NeurIPS.
Contribute to open-source projects or internal tools supporting AI-enhanced databases.

Requirements

PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field focused on databases, systems, or machine learning.
Strong publication record in accredited venues related to AI for databases, including SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, or NeurIPS.
Strong background in database internals, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, modern cloud-native databases, or Big Data platforms.
Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as XGBoost, LightGBM, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
Preferred proficiency in Python, C++, or Java.
Preferred experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud database platforms.
Preferred familiarity with LLMs, reinforcement learning, neural architecture search, or automated database tuning.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
