Senior Security Engineer in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Lead triage, investigation, escalation, and response for complex security alerts and incidents in North American time zones.
  • Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation as a senior incident response escalation resource.
  • Engineer and optimize detection logic, detection coverage mapping, threat models, and security telemetry analysis.
  • Develop KPIs covering detection effectiveness, false positives, and mean time to detect, respond, and recover.
  • Create and maintain incident response runbooks, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Mentor junior team members in security operations, detection engineering, and incident response.
  • Build automation workflows, orchestration playbooks, and AI-driven tools for security operations and incident response.
  • Conduct proactive threat hunts across corporate and production environments and support the logging and monitoring infrastructure.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on security operations experience emphasizing incident response and detection engineering.
  • Experience with enterprise security tools including EDR, NDR, CSPM, EASM, SIEM, SOAR, and cloud security platforms such as GuardDuty.
  • Proficiency applying MITRE ATT&CK to detection capability and coverage-gap assessments.
  • Expertise developing threat detection use cases from telemetry analysis, environment baselining, threat intelligence, and incident response findings.
  • Strong understanding of AWS cloud services and containerization technologies.
  • Preferred experience in threat hunting, cyber threat intelligence, digital forensics, Python, JavaScript, Go, Terraform, forensic tools, Detections-as-Code, Purple Team exercises, vulnerability validation, and observability or SRE tools and processes.
  • Industry certifications such as GCIH, GCFA, GIME, OSIR, or GEIR are strongly preferred.
