Responsibilities

Design, build, and iterate on APIs and services for a standardized data access layer.
Drive adoption of API-gated data sources so product teams can expose data once for reuse across consuming surfaces.
Design data ownership labeling and validation logic for incoming requests.
Own reliability, latency, and operational excellence for a high-throughput, low-latency critical-path system.
Make early architectural decisions and document them in technical design documents.
Establish engineering practices including testing, code and design review, on-call, and CI guardrails.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams on shared data-layer adoption.
Own projects, influence roadmaps and long-term planning, mentor engineers, and contribute to knowledge sharing.

Requirements

7+ years of industry experience as a senior software engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals.
Strong production experience with Python and Golang, plus SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience designing resilient, scalable applications with an emphasis on operational excellence.
Proven ability to own and drive complex systems end to end and influence cross-team goals and roadmaps.
Strong understanding of service health, monitoring, fault tolerance, and incident response.
Ability to make practical technical trade-offs, write technical design documents, and lead their adoption.
Strong communication, autonomy, asynchronous collaboration, and mentorship skills.
Experience with data access layers, APIs, platforms for other engineering teams, internal platforms as products, or big data platforms and technologies is preferred.
Familiarity with ChatGPT, Cursor, and other GenAI productivity tools is preferred.
