Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure capabilities across Microsoft Fabric data engineering experiences and platform services.
Provide technical leadership for complex cross-component initiatives and shape architecture and engineering strategy across services and teams.
Lead high-impact projects from technical design and implementation through production readiness, launch, and ongoing improvement.
Solve distributed systems and data platform problems at enterprise scale with emphasis on performance, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
Collaborate with engineering, product, and partner teams to define priorities and deliver cohesive Microsoft Fabric customer experiences.
Apply AI-powered approaches such as intelligent assistance, diagnostics, automation, and agentic workflows to improve data engineering and developer experiences.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems, including distributed databases and data processing platforms.
Familiarity with distributed systems and data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
Experience with AI-assisted software development, coding agents, or agent-based development workflows.
Experience driving complex technical initiatives across multiple services or engineering teams.
Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check screening upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Benefits

The typical U.S. base pay range is $119,800-$234,700 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of $160,200-$261,000 per year.
Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
