Responsibilities

  • Drive the evolution of tips and earnings platforms through complex, high-impact projects.
  • Own systems end to end with emphasis on correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Lead projects from design and estimation through implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Ship code affecting product revenue and the accuracy of restaurant employee pay.
  • Partner with product and design to shape product and engineering decisions.
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering standards.
  • Mentor teammates and provide technical guidance.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude to accelerate development and improve ways of working.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of backend experience with one or more object-oriented programming languages such as Java or Kotlin.
  • Proficiency with modern web standards and technologies including React, TypeScript, REST, and GraphQL.
  • Proficiency with traditional databases and alternative data stores.
  • Experience owning and operating production systems.
  • Experience with distributed systems, enterprise messaging systems, and/or microservices.
  • Strong focus on precision and correctness in systems affecting employee pay.
  • Track record of solving ambiguous, high-impact problems and delivering scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills for complex technical topics.
  • Passion for technology and learning.
