Senior Software Engineer in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical leader while directly designing, implementing, and operating production software.
  • Own complex development efforts from problem definition and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operation.
  • Design technical solutions, review designs, and guide architectural and implementation decisions.
  • Translate product priorities into technical plans, identify dependencies and risks, and guide initiatives through delivery.
  • Solve difficult technical problems, mentor engineers, and support the growth of less-experienced teammates.
  • Maintain engineering quality through design discussions, code reviews, testing, operational readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead production incident response, diagnose complex problems, restore service, and drive recurrence prevention.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams and product areas on work spanning multiple systems.
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing software engineers.
  • Use and evaluate AI-assisted development tools across design, implementation, testing, debugging, and code review while maintaining standards for correctness, security, scalability, and privacy.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent college-level education.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Track record of leading significant technical projects and delivering complex production systems.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and supporting less-experienced team members.
  • Experience supervising or managing software engineers, or demonstrated readiness to take on direct-report responsibilities.
  • Deep technical judgment and foundations in software architecture, design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience designing software systems, evaluating approaches, and communicating technical decisions.
  • Experience diagnosing difficult production problems and leading technical incident response.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering teams and with Product or business partners.
  • Fluency with Java, Go, C++, Python, or a similar programming language; Yext primarily codes in Java and Go.
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing, or evaluating software engineers.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and critically evaluating their output.
  • Sound judgment regarding data privacy, intellectual property, security, and confidential information when using AI tools.

Salary: $149k - $304k/yr
