Responsibilities

Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended technical problems.
Design, develop, and launch highly available distributed backend systems using Kotlin and Python.
Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and partner engineering teams to evaluate constraints, risks, and tradeoffs.
Identify and resolve project, process, technology, and business issues while shaping quarterly technical direction.
Support system operations through metrics, escalation, on-call participation, and improvements to operational health.
Improve code review and design standards, reduce toil, create playbooks, and advocate for engineering quality.
Mentor engineers, support new hires and interns, provide feedback, and contribute to hiring.

Requirements

At least 4 years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
Professional experience using languages such as Kotlin or Python.
Experience developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Ability to define technical plans and create elegant, simple, and extensible designs for significant features or system components.
Ability to make substantial changes safely in a large codebase using effective tools and engineering practices.
Strong ownership, growth mindset, and willingness to seek feedback.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
