Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate self-serve ETL/ELT frameworks for batch and streaming workloads.
  • Own pipeline reliability, data quality SLAs, schema evolution, performance, and cost at scale.
  • Drive the data platform roadmap, including build-versus-buy decisions, integration patterns, and technical standards.
  • Partner with Product Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Marketing to define data contracts and onboard new data domains.
  • Architect and enforce data lineage, schema registry, access controls, governance, and auditability across data domains.
  • Monitor, alert, debug, and resolve data platform incidents, including participation in the on-call rotation.
  • Build observability capabilities such as freshness monitoring, row-level quality checks, schema drift detection, and SLA dashboards.
  • Raise the team’s technical bar through code reviews, design reviews, and hands-on mentorship.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building, shipping, and operating production data infrastructure.
  • Strong system design skills and experience documenting trade-offs and delivering system designs.
  • Experience defining data pipeline metrics and building visibility solutions for partner teams.
  • Deep proficiency in Python or Java/Kotlin and strong practices around testing, code quality, and maintainability.
  • Production experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Experience with at least one streaming technology such as Kafka, Flink, or Kinesis.
  • Experience with data modeling and transformation frameworks, including dbt.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment such as fintech or healthtech, including data governance, access controls, and audit trails.
  • Strong architectural ownership, technical leadership, and mentoring capabilities.

Salary: $187k - $259k/yr
