Responsibilities

  • Design and implement performant, scalable Go backend services and microservices for real-time, high-throughput workloads.
  • Own complex technical features from product requirements through implementation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Diagnose performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and improve distributed-system resilience.
  • Drive architectural decisions and communicate technical recommendations for team services.
  • Mentor Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
  • Improve practices for code quality, testing, observability, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and engineering teams on technical solutions.
  • Participate in the production on-call rotation, incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience building production Go services.
  • A record of owning and delivering complex, multi-component features in a team environment.
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
  • Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.
  • Expert-level Go proficiency and ability to write idiomatic, well-tested, production-quality code.
  • Understanding of REST, gRPC, or GraphQL API design.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, logging, metrics, and tracing.
  • Ability to work autonomously on ambiguous problems while communicating and collaborating effectively.
  • Preferred experience with Ruby on Rails, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Terraform, Kubernetes operators, ArgoCD, high-traffic real-time systems, the Go open-source ecosystem, or daily fantasy sports and sports betting.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools or integrating AI tooling into engineering workflows is preferred.

Salary: $175k - $185k/yr
