Senior Software Engineer II in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex integration projects from design through build and rollout while setting technical direction for the Decisioning Studio integration platform.
  • Design and build integrations with cloud data warehouses, customer engagement platforms, and enterprise systems for data ingestion and activation orchestration.
  • Build large-scale batch, file-drop, API, and streaming ingestion pipelines that support arbitrary schemas and prevent invalid data from reaching models.
  • Build event-driven, fault-tolerant activation pipelines that deliver recommendations reliably, recover from partial failures, and prevent duplicate delivery.
  • Design multi-region systems with data residency and PII-handling requirements.
  • Own systems in production, instrument them with Datadog, participate in on-call, and drive incidents through root-cause resolution.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and product managers to turn integration requirements into reusable platform capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers and improve code quality, testing, and design reviews.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of backend engineering experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through end-to-end project ownership, architecture decisions, and direction-setting for other engineers.
  • Experience building high-volume data pipelines or integrations involving schema changes, backfills, and partial failures.
  • Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and reliability patterns, including message brokers, idempotency, retries with backoff, dead-letter handling, and at-least-once versus exactly-once tradeoffs.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with AI coding assistants and the judgment to use them appropriately.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, data science, and product teams.
  • Bonus: experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Braze, Adobe, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or Klaviyo.
  • Bonus: experience building multi-region systems under data residency and compliance requirements or running ML systems in production.

Benefits

  • Hybrid work arrangement with a curated in-office experience.
