Responsibilities

  • Drive non-functional performance and load testing and identify critical optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze system behavior to determine what is broken, why it is broken, and how simulations can be improved.
  • Develop and improve load-generation systems, test-data generation, and performance coverage.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across products and platforms to implement performance and optimization solutions.
  • Support load optimization and testing for distributed, high-throughput systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and partner with senior load-testing engineers.
  • Investigate infrastructure, microservices, Kubernetes scheduling, performance, and resilience challenges.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience with advanced load-generation and analysis systems and tools.
  • Programming experience with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Golang, or a similar language.
  • Experience understanding code, databases, data structures, persistence and performance tradeoffs, indexes, query planners, complex joins, and dataset modeling.
  • Experience with MongoDB or SQL databases.
  • High-level understanding of Kubernetes and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with public cloud environments, including AWS and Azure.
  • Experience with observability or request-tracing tools such as Datadog, New Relic, OpenTracing, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience with load-testing tools such as JMeter, Apache Bench, or Artillery.
  • Production experience with Linux and containers.
  • Understanding of agentic AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or Copilot, including integrating agents, skills, or workflows into CI/CD pipelines, Git hooks, and review processes.
  • A developer mindset and ability to investigate code and system behavior and identify optimization opportunities.
