Senior Software Engineer - Mobile Backend in Canada new

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable APIs, libraries, and services for BitGo’s API-first platform.
  • Own functionality and scalability features from inception through deployment and customer integration.
  • Expose and document functionality for user interfaces, third-party developers, and internal and external tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while ensuring application performance, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks, fix bugs, and evaluate new technologies to improve development efficiency.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous engineering improvement.
  • Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand and refine product requirements.
  • Mentor peers through code reviews and education on engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of backend and server-side development experience.
  • Strong algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity-analysis skills.
  • Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Strong experience designing RESTful APIs and working with microservices and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience with unit and functional testing, debugging, Git, GitHub, branching methodologies, code review tools, and CI tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or another technical discipline from a top university.
  • Understanding of and strong interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
  • Preferred: experience developing consumer-facing crypto products and public-facing production APIs.
  • Preferred: ability to work full-stack and familiarity with React.
  • Preferred: experience working with clients or business partners and familiarity with digital wallets, clearing and settlement, lending, trading, or accounting systems.

Benefits

  • Full-time onsite work at BitGo’s Toronto office.
  • CAD 180,000–220,000 base salary depending on leveling and location.
  • Equity, annual performance bonus, and additional benefits; benefits may vary by location.
