Responsibilities

Architect, design, and deploy Roku’s next-generation cloud platform and service mesh.
Build and own compute solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, Terraform, and scripting.
Research and implement technologies that improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
Integrate security best practices into infrastructure design and automation.
Build tooling to visualize cluster inefficiencies, network traffic, cross-cluster communication, and cost attribution.
Collaborate with internal teams to migrate workloads to Kubernetes and Istio using open-source observability tools.
Scale monitoring and logging solutions with the Observability team.
Apply SRE principles to maintain high availability and streamline onboarding workflows.
Mentor team members and define infrastructure and automation best practices.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience architecting and managing large-scale cloud systems; AWS is preferred, with GCP or Azure as a plus.
Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, including EKS, GKE, AKS, or similar platforms, and service mesh technologies.
Proficiency in Go or another programming language and Python or another scripting language.
Experience designing infrastructure, building automation tools, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience building CI/CD pipelines and following modern deployment practices.
Familiarity with Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Grafana, or similar observability tools.
Ability to work independently and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience integrating AI tools to improve processes and reduce operational toil is a plus.
Fluency with agentic engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks, including verifying agent output and using agents to ramp on unfamiliar codebases.
Master’s degree or equivalent experience; 8+ years is preferred.
