Responsibilities

  • Own V&V and IV&V activities for flight software functional, performance, and safety requirements.
  • Define and maintain software requirements traceability from system requirements through implementation, testing, and verification artifacts.
  • Prepare and review software certification and NASA Safety Review documentation.
  • Interpret, tailor, and apply formal software and aerospace standards.
  • Interface with Product Assurance and collaborate with systems engineers, subsystem owners, certification bodies, safety authorities, and software development teams.
  • Maintain the software functional design baseline and plan testing for the integrated mission.
  • Use C/C++ and Python knowledge to contribute to software design and test discussions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • 7 to 10+ years of experience in systems design, analysis, and testing of aerospace or space-related systems, particularly complex spacecraft integration or testing.
  • Experience with safety-critical or highly regulated software systems, preferably in aerospace.
  • Deep understanding of requirements management, V&V, testing, and software certification processes.
  • Strong software engineering background with practical experience in flight software frameworks and modern C++.
  • Experience with real-time systems, embedded development, or spacecraft software.
  • Familiarity with software testing methodologies and simulation tools.
  • Strong cross-disciplinary communication and collaboration skills, with attention to detail, quality, and testing.
  • Familiarity with software certification standards including NASA-NPR-7150.2, NASA-STD-8739.8B, RCC319, and ECSS-Q-ST-80C is desirable.
  • Familiarity with International Space Station functionality and requirements, including SSP 50808, and prior human-rated spaceflight experience are desirable.
  • Familiarity with agile and modern development practices.
