Responsibilities

Develop customer authentication and authorization platforms and iterate rapidly with a highly capable engineering team.
Partner with teams across Coupang to understand current needs and future direction.
Design and implement robust, scalable distributed systems and critical infrastructure components.
Write backend APIs in Java and Go using industry-standard frameworks.
Drive platform adoption and help internal teams prioritize integration work.
Investigate critical system issues and improve operational excellence.
Serve as a technical role model and help shape team culture.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
8+ years of professional software development experience, or 6 years with an advanced degree.
2+ years of experience leading technical projects.
Fluency in one or more of C++, Java, and Go.
Recent hands-on experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems.
A proven track record delivering mission-critical systems.
Experience with cloud computing using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Deep understanding of cloud application design and architecture, API design patterns, performance, and scale.
Preferred: master’s or PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
Preferred: working knowledge of OIDC, OAuth2, IAM systems, identity providers, and role-based authorization.
Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, gRPC, Istio, high-reliability and low-latency cloud systems, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
Preferred: experience leading delivery of large-scale services while managing competing priorities.
