Senior Staff Platform Engineer - Kubernetes in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and operate cloud-native platform components and services.
  • Lead projects from requirements and rough concepts through technical design and delivery.
  • Build operators, controllers, automation, and platform services used by other teams.
  • Improve reliability, scalability, operability, instrumentation, testing, and runbooks, and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Collaborate with senior, staff, and principal engineers on platform architecture and standards.
  • Onboard and mentor junior engineers through code review, design feedback, and pairing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of software development experience, or a Master's degree and 8+ years, or a PhD and 5+ years, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating workloads on Kubernetes.
  • Experience with at least one major hyperscaler—AWS, Azure, or GCP—including compute, networking, and IAM primitives.
  • Track record of delivering complex features or services as a key contributor.
  • Working knowledge of containers, CI/CD, GitOps-based delivery, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong programming skills in Go or another systems language, with willingness to work primarily in Go.
  • Experience integrating or critically evaluating AI in engineering work.
  • Preferred experience with Kubernetes controllers, the operator pattern, container networking or service mesh, workload identity, mTLS, secrets management, metrics, tracing, and dashboards.

  • Flexible hybrid work arrangement requiring two days per week in a ServiceNow office.
  • Base pay of $171,900–$300,800, plus potential equity, variable compensation, and benefits.

  • Regular employee position supporting US regulated markets and requiring federal personnel authorization screening, including credit, criminal/misdemeanor, and drug checks.
