Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve agentic search architecture combining LLMs and retrieval for complex and ambiguous contract questions.
  • Design and run benchmarks, experiments, regression detection, and structured A/B comparisons to drive search-quality improvements.
  • Define and influence the company’s search-quality standards.
  • Build and use NLP/LLM models and ingestion pipelines that convert raw documents into data usable by retrieval systems.
  • Set architectural and technical direction for engineers across the AI organization and mentor senior engineers.
  • Partner with product, applied science, and engineering leaders to turn ambiguous problems into measurable shipped improvements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience building production systems, with substantial experience in search, information retrieval, content understanding, or recommendation systems at meaningful scale.
  • Deep experience in learned or hybrid retrieval, query-understanding/NLU pipelines, or production LLM agent systems, ideally across more than one area.
  • Production experience with Elasticsearch or equivalent search frameworks such as Solr, Vespa, or OpenSearch, including relevance tuning and reranking.
  • Fluency with modern LLM APIs and multi-provider orchestration using Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, including token budgets, tool-calling semantics, and prompt-caching trade-offs.
  • Experience building evaluation-driven workflows with offline benchmarks, regression detection, and structured A/B comparison.
  • Strong autonomy, ownership, cross-team technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience with post-training algorithms and infrastructure, including SFT and RL, is preferred.
  • Experience with content understanding or information retrieval in structured-document-heavy domains is preferred.
  • Experience building RAG systems across Google Docs, PDFs, DOCX, or other document formats is preferred.
