Senior/Staff Software Engineer - Toronto in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Build agentic systems that automate real-world enterprise accounting workflows.
  • Scale the platform to support large and growing enterprise workloads.
  • Architect a durable and scalable financial data processing layer.
  • Build infrastructure that powers Maxima’s agentic systems.
  • Create clean and robust abstractions for intricate accounting workflows.
  • Own major product and engineering areas and collaborate closely with customers.
  • Contribute to product direction, company growth, and the development of a technical team.

Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years of experience building systems at high-growth companies.
  • Strong familiarity with web development, relational databases, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with AI agents, data pipelines, mission-critical systems such as fintech, or complex workflow engines is a strong plus.
  • Curiosity, initiative, technical excellence, and strong commitment to company culture.
