Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain architectures for embedded software components, subsystems, application software, communication services, operating systems, hardware interfaces, protocol stacks, runtime services, and platform infrastructure.
  • Design software solutions meeting real-time, reliability, cybersecurity, performance, verification, and product quality requirements for critical infrastructure applications.
  • Guide architectural decisions, technical trade-offs, platform evolution, and software reuse across long-lived product platforms and technology domains.
  • Translate product requirements and technology strategies into scalable software solutions in partnership with product owners, system architects, protection experts, communication specialists, and development teams.
  • Support system integration, verification, performance optimization, product releases, automation, and engineering practices that improve software quality and development efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and provide architectural direction across protection, communication, application, and embedded platform teams.
  • Collaborate with international R&D organizations and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience developing software for embedded, industrial, real-time, or other technical systems.
  • 8+ years of experience programming in C++, preferably C++17 or C++20, and applying software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, and modern development practices.
  • 8+ years of experience with embedded operating systems, embedded Linux, hardware abstraction layers, and system-level debugging.
  • 8+ years of experience with real-time systems, concurrency, resource management, and deterministic software execution.
  • 3–5 years of experience evaluating architectural alternatives, making technical trade-offs, and designing maintainable and scalable software architectures.
  • 3–5 years of experience communicating analytically and solving problems across multidisciplinary and globally distributed engineering organizations.
  • 3–5 years of experience with cybersecurity principles and secure software design for critical infrastructure.
  • Preferred experience includes embedded Linux, RTOS, real-time embedded systems, modular platform development, industrial communication protocols, networking, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 62443, RED, CRA, protection and control systems, power system automation, digital substations, multi-core architectures, concurrency, performance optimization, automated testing, static analysis, software quality practices, requirements engineering, systems engineering, and verification and validation processes.
  • Ability to travel internationally for initial training.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
