Software Engineer 2, API Ops in Others new

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and build Kong’s API Operations toolset, starting with decK.
  • Extend the toolset to support Kong’s HTTP, AI, and Event gateways and other API runtimes.
  • Shape the technical direction and evolution of the API Operations platform.
  • Build CLI tools that support both human users and automation through GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • Coordinate API changes across multiple tools while reducing manual operational work.
  • Raise the quality and consistency of Kong’s APIs.
  • Collaborate with product leadership on strategy, roadmap, and objectives.
  • Assist with hiring and mentor team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience building high-performance software with Golang.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Prior operations experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
  • Experience building APIs, standardizing APIs in large organizations, and creating API workflows.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with high velocity in a fast-paced pre-IPO startup.
