What We're Looking For:

Analyzes, designs, develops, and maintains software for the organization’s products and systems. Performs system integration of software and hardware to ensure consistency, reliability, and throughput. Develops, validates, and tests software structures and user documentation. Operates with minimal supervision and exercises significant latitude in determining the objectives of assignments, contributing to complex and high-impact projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Architects, designs, develops, and tests native Android applications for complex technical projects using Kotlin/Java, Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Gradle.

- Creates software specifications and Android architectural designs that are scalable, maintainable, testable, and aligned with modern patterns such as MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, and SOLID principles.

- Leads Android design reviews and code reviews; drives technical and quality improvements across performance, security, reliability, usability, and maintainability.

- Integrates Android applications with enterprise device capabilities including camera, barcode scanning, RFID, NFC, Bluetooth peripherals, sensors, location services, and Android system services.

- Builds reusable Android frameworks, SDKs, libraries, and platform components to accelerate delivery across multiple mobile products and releases.

- Investigates and resolves complex Android issues related to memory, latency, battery consumption, concurrency, application stability, and production diagnostics.

- Develops automated unit, integration, UI, and performance tests; strengthens CI/CD pipelines, build automation, release validation, and engineering quality practices.

- Collaborates with product management, UX, cloud, AI/ML, firmware, hardware, DevOps, customer-facing, and other teams to translate requirements into robust Android solutions.

- Evaluates emerging Android capabilities and prototypes of mobile experiences involving computer vision, OCR, on-device AI/ML, edge inference, and workflow automation.

- Mentors engineers, coordinates technical execution across projects, and represents Android engineering in program reviews, customer discussions, and cross-functional technical forums.

Job Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree,  5+ years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree
• Equivalency: Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
 

Key Skills and Competencies:

- 8+ years of professional software development experience, including strong experience in native Android application development.

- Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle, Jetpack libraries, and Android architecture components.

- Experience with MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, modular architecture, dependency injection using Hilt/Dagger, Coroutines, Flow, and asynchronous programming.

- Experience with Camera2, NDK/JNI/C++, Android Enterprise, managed configurations, REST APIs, telemetry, diagnostics, Git, CI/CD, JUnit, Espresso, Mockito, and UI automation.

- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, solve complex customer problems, and deliver enterprise-grade Android solutions with high quality and ownership.
