Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain software and platform capabilities for internal observability and developer experience.
  • Contribute to Fastly’s internal developer portal, helping teams discover services, documentation, and operational tooling.
  • Break down requirements, own assigned work through completion, and communicate status and issues clearly.
  • Debug and resolve issues across the software stack, from datacenter hardware to browser-based systems and across multiple services and data sources.
  • Collaborate with engineers through code reviews, planning, retrospectives, and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents within the team’s SLA.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience with a statically typed modern backend language such as Go, Java, or Rust.
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, or willingness to become proficient.
  • Experience with SQL and database-driven applications.
  • Experience working with Linux systems and the shell.
  • Experience with distributed systems or cloud-based services.
  • Strong debugging, communication, ownership, service mindset, and learning orientation.
  • Preferred experience with Backstage, observability systems, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, data science or data engineering, capacity planning, FinOps, network or datacenter infrastructure, or internal technical documentation.

Salary: $155k - $186k/yr
