Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver complete software features from requirements through deployment.
  • Develop across the full stack, including database schemas, APIs, and user interfaces.
  • Maintain, enhance, and migrate ASP.NET Framework applications and WCF services to modern .NET.
  • Debug applications across the stack and address database and query performance issues.
  • Own testing strategy and code coverage for assigned areas.
  • Apply secure coding, accessibility, regulatory, and API design practices.
  • Use agentic AI development tools with human-in-the-loop review and remain accountable for delivered code.
  • Contribute to shared internal code libraries, documentation, code reviews, mentoring, onboarding, and process improvements.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of professional software development experience with increasing technical responsibility.
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET Framework, modern .NET, ASP.NET MVC, Razor Pages, RESTful APIs, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, Microsoft SQL Server, Entity Framework 6, and EF Core.
  • Knowledge of architecture principles, design patterns, scalable system design, secure coding, authentication, role-based access control, n-tier architecture, encryption, and input validation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, Git, GitHub, branching strategies, collaborative workflows, agentic AI coding tools, and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Experience across the software development lifecycle, including shipping features and supporting production systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred: TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Umbraco CMS, AWS or Azure, accessibility testing tools, and public-sector or regulated-industry experience.

  • Occasional in-person meetings with Wisconsin state agency partners are expected.
