Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and iterate on production features across backend APIs, data pipelines, integrations, case management UI, and customer-facing tools.
  • Build scalable APIs and services that orchestrate identity verification, sanctions screening, document analysis, and other checks across more than 80 compliance vendors.
  • Develop KYB/AML case management workflows and business logic, and create pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and routing compliance data.
  • Integrate third-party identity and compliance APIs and manage complex vendor response mapping.
  • Write maintainable, tested, documented code; participate in reviews and technical decisions; and contribute to engineering practices.
  • Debug production issues, own incident resolution, and improve system performance, reliability, cost efficiency, monitoring, alerting, and observability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, compliance experts, and customer success teams while helping shape engineering culture and workflows.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
  • Strong programming fundamentals in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Understanding of relational databases and data modeling, including PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and modern deployment practices.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, comfort with unfamiliar codebases, and excellent communication skills.
  • Preferred experience includes fintech, RegTech, payments, fraud or risk detection, KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, adverse media, event-driven architectures, message queues, NoSQL databases, search engines, third-party API integrations, React, TypeScript, ML/AI systems, Kubernetes, Terraform, or infrastructure as code.

Salary: $115k - $150k/yr
